Donna B. -"Congratulations on an amazing undertaking!!

This book made me laugh, and cry, and yell out loud a few times!!

I felt as if I was sitting beside the pilot in the midst of attacks! I could feel the adrenaline pulsing !

I could so much relate to the story of the young lovers, felt their joy, sorrow, anticipation, and even a broken promise! With two son in laws in the Navy I could relate to a lot of the anxieties and also, pride in our country...

...When I started reading the book, I was a little nervous thinking I wouldn't be able to follow the various aircraft and Navy " lingo" but once I got into the book, I found myself reading very slowly because I didn't want it to end!"

Jack H., former Aviation Boatswain's Mate (ABAN) on board the USS Yorktown during the Korean War. - "The short description of my military job is I launched aircraft from the flat-top (aircraft carrier.)"

"I read the book in one sitting. Just couldn't put it down."

He summarized the significance of the Battle of Midway by stating: "... it was the turning point in the war in the Pacific. If we had lost that battle, we would have been done for."His favorite character in "The Last Magical Year" was Abigail, the little girl who "finished the book just right by taking charge." He particularly enjoyed the scene where Abigail lovingly caresses her great-great grandmother Isabela's old and wrinkled hand.
